Nova

collector-nova · version 0.6.0 · registers as nova · CI 2026-09-25

Nova — the machine census.

What its API allows, and what it doesn't: Nova's registries (NovaBlockRegistry, NovaItemRegistry) only do lookup by identifier — they enumerate nothing, so there's no "how many custom blocks exist" to pull from them. The TileEntityManager, though, enumerates. It's the only door, and it gives what actually matters: the number of machines placed, the ones consuming tick time.

Background mode, for good reason: getTileEntities(World) builds a list. On a server covered in machines, doing that on every scrape would make the exporter responsible for the lag it measures.

Install

Put vania-metrics-collector-nova-0.6.0.jar in the plugins folder, next to the core and to Nova, then restart. The collector depends on both: without Nova it stays disabled, and the core keeps running.

  • Target plugin: Nova 0.22.3 — latest for Minecraft 1.21.11: 0.22.3
  • Built against: core v0.6.0
  • Download: vania-metrics-collector-nova-0.6.0.jar, with its SHA-512, from the v0.6.0 release
  • Collects: in the background, every 30 s — reading the plugin's state never blocks a scrape
  • Tested on: Java 21
  • Latest CI: success · 2026-09-25 21:34 UTC · commit 38a8313 · run

Nova machines placed, per world. These are what consume tick time — a rising number explains a rising MSPT.
